This Easter will be the earliest in the year in all of our lifetimes! The Blessing of the Easter Food will take place on Saturday 22 March from 2pm to 4pm every 15 minutes at St Edmund's Church, Inner Avenue SO15 2EQ. Below are some other events that are happening over the next few weeks!
1 Wednesday 12 March 'Let's talk About..' Informal cafĂŠ chat! 7.00pm at Cukierenka 22 Bedford Place SO15 2BD. A chance to chat, practice your English, drink good coffee, eat cakes and meet new people. Come along to find out more. This time we will have a guest from the health service. So come along with your questions and experiences about doctors and health in the UK
2 Thursday 13 March 5.00pm to 7.00pm 'Moving On' an opportunity to help people to move on in their job/career with Wheatsheaf Trust, 24 Bernard Street SO143AY; We will be offering the following and there will be translators to help
* Qualification Comparison Check using the International Comparison Database. Have your qualifications checked to see how they match up to UK qualifications. A crucial starting point if you are under using your skills and experience in current employment.
* CV Checks � we can look over your CV, give you some tips on how to make improvements and provide some helpful booklets to help you write a great CV.
* General Advice on careers, interviews and applying for jobs.
* Use of Free Resources such as Internet, phones and photocopier to help with your job search.
3 We are now partnering with Target Accounting 488 Portswood Rd SO17 3SP in hosting an evening each month with Lloyds/TSB Bank. They take place on the last Tuesday of the month, so the next one is Tuesday 25 March from 7-9pm. It's a chance to open accounts and receive banking advice with Polish interpretors. They also can give tax / financial advise, and people who already HAVE accounts with Lloyds can come and talk to Polish staff about any queries they may have. 4 Our Advice Evenings are changing! We will still help people fill in forms and give information on benefits, work and housing issues plus anything else that is on your mind, but now we are teaming up with the Polish Psychologists' Club to be able to help people going through stressful times. We will be able to offer advice on problems with children, teenagers, personal problems, coping with life on emigration, coping with stress at work, at home, at university / school, decision making etc. The next session takes place on 4 April between 6pm and 8pm at YMCA Building ,Cranbury Place SO14 0LG (near London Road and Inner Avenue )
5 The Parent and Children's group at St Boniface Church, Shirley High Street happens each Tuesday morning. If you have children under 5, or know people who have, it is a great place to come. It runs from 10am, and is open to all Eastern European families.
6 Have you seen our new Survival Guide to Southampton? It is in English and Polish and has loads of useful information. It was kindly sponsored by HSBC bank. If you havnt got a copy you can pick one up in St Edmund's Church on the Avenue, or contact us, and we'll make sure you get one.
7 Keep the dates 16 and 30 April free! On 16 April from 6pm there will be a walk round the City Centre parks, and on 30 April from 6.15pm a tour of the BBC studios. More details next time!

Happy Easter to you all! Please remember most shops will be closed on Easter Sunday, and also that on Sunday 30th March , the clocks go forward an hour!
EU Welcome is here to help people from all countries of Europe who are living in or near Southampton. We're delighted to support the Hungarian evening on 28 March (see 3 below) and the exhibition from the Czech Republic (see 7 below)
We provide Polish interpreters for many of our events, but would be able to offer translation too into other languages. Just let us know. Also contact us if you have other ideas of what we can be doing to make people's lives easier or just more fun! Lots of news this time!

7 You are invited to the launch of a new exhibition, from the Prague Museum in the Czech Republic; ‘Clothes Make the (Prehistoric) Man.’ Thursday 10th April 2008, 6 – 8pm. God’s House Tower Museum of Archaeology, Winkle Street .Reproductions of prehistoric textiles and clothing will be on display for visitors to handle, accompanied by text in Czech and English. The story begins in what is now the Czech Republic in 40,000BC and continues to about 1000AD. Please RSVP as spaces may be limited. Call 023 8063 5904, or email museums@southampton.gov.uk Light refreshments will be served. The exhibition will be open to the public from 11 April to 20 July
8 'A Walk in the Park.' Wednesday 16 April 6pm. Meet at the fountains outside Central Library. Southampton's central parks are lovely places to walk and to sit, but now you can find out more about them. Gary, the Park Ranger, will talk to us about the history, and plant and animal life in these parks. He will also show us the various statues and monuments including the Titanic Memorial. One of Gary's ancestors died on the ship so he has personal knowledge! The talk will be in English with translation available
9 'Tour the BBC Studios' Wednesday 30 April 6.15pm. Look behind the scenes at BBC TV and radio.See a news programmes going out 'live.' Find out more about the BBC including job opportunities.
