The 4th April 2009 marks the 70th Anniversary of the formation of The Royal Armoured Corps and The Tank Museum will be hosting a special event to celebrate the date that brought the British armoured regiments together.

Normal admission fees will apply and pre-booking will not be necessary – allowing annual ticket holders to re-visit for free (click here for terms and conditions).

FREE Arena Display

* Over 20 tanks taking part in live action displays in our impressive new arena.
* Selected historic armour from the Royal Armoured Corps past from The Tank Museum collection.
* A British Army displaying the vehicles it uses on operations today; including Challenger 2 and Warrior,
* See a British Army section attack – complete with blank firing weapons and pyrotechnics.
* A special appearance by the RAC Parachute Display Team (Weather permitting)

A NEW 50002ft Exhibition

* See our new exhibition “The Tank Story” in our new display hall, which will be admitting the public for the very first time.
* “The Tank Story” tells the story of the tank from its World War One origin to the future, and is the key element of a £16m Heritage Lottery Fund sponsored redevelopment of The Museum.

Extra Special Activities

* Meet today’s RAC soldiers – examine their equipment and hear their stories of recent operations in Iraq and Afghanistan in a number of talks & presentations.
* A free performance by the Light Cavalry Band.
* Free guided tours, talks, family activity trails and get a closer look at soldiers equipment from the last 70 years.
* Climb inside a World War One tank – and meet `Tommy` in the Trench Experience.
* Free admission to the Archive and Reference Library – find out about relatives who have served in the Royal Tank Regiment & Royal Armoured Corps.
