4 Wednesday 28 November. Improve your job/career with EU Welcome and Wheatsheaf Trust

5 Friday 7 December. Advice Clinic

6 Wednesday 12 December. 'Let's talk About..' Informal cafĂŠ chat!



1 We are helping a group called Community Builders set up an EU Arts Group. Come along to the St Albans Community Room, Tulip Road (off Burgess Road) SO16 3BB at 7.15pm on 15 and 29 October. On these evenings they will be making some Christmas decorations for a Christmas tree display.

2 Come on a trip round St Mary's fire Station in St Mary's Road. Thursday 22 November at 6.30pm Find out what UK firefighters do. Hear about job opportunities. Check if your home is safe. Listen to some English. Meet new people. Have a look round a busy fire station! Meet firemen. Polish translation given. Let us know if you can come.

3 Banking advice with some friendly Polish interpretors! Come to Barclay's in London Road between 10.30am and 2.30pm on Saturday 24 November. You can open accounts and ask any questions.

4 EU Welcome with Wheatsheaf Trust are running TWO events early evening on Wednesday 28 November .
From 5pm to 7.pm you can get job, career and training advice and see how your qualifications from your country are recognised in the UK as well as news of English courses. There will be trained careers advisers and a chance to access the NARIC software.
From 6pm to 8pm there is special help for people working in building and construction, with information about special English courses and free health and safety training
These both take place at Wheatsheaf House at 24 Bernard Street, SO14 3AY, just along the road from the Job Centre Plus

5 The next Advice Session that we are running will be on Friday 7 December from 6pm till 9pm at the YMCA building in Cranbury Place near the Inner Avenue.SO14 0LG We try to help over any problem and are happy to fill in forms for you. All services are FREE! You can also just come along for a chat

6 On Wednesday 11 December we are holding our monthly discussion meeting' Let's Talk about..' informal cafe conversation at 7.00pm at Cukierenka 22 Bedford Place SO15 2BD. A chance to chat, practise your English, drink good coffee, eat cakes and meet new people. Come along to find out more.


Other News!

Each week the Polish Saturday School teaches 130 children Polish language and culture. They need some more teachers. If you could help please contact irenasachrajda@yahoo.co.uk. You could be really helping the next generation.

Vacancies currently exist within The Catholic Home Care team for carers to visit and care for elderly people
The work is flexible and jobs are varied dependant on the clients needs; shopping, cleaning and general duties around the house. This weekly care enables the elderly to remain in their own homes. Applicants will like and empathise with the elderly and enjoy working within a supportive team environment. Current pay is ÂŁ6 per hour and CRB checks will be necessary.

Target Accounting 488 Portswood Rd SO17 3SP hosts an evening each month with Lloyds/TSB Bank. They are normally on the last Tuesday of the month. So the next one is on Tuesday 27 November from 7-9pm. The Parent and Children's group at St Boniface Church, Shirley High Street has begun again on Tuesday mornings If you have children under 5, or know people who have, it is a great place to come. It runs from 10am, and is open to all Eastern European families. This group is generously sponsored by Baltic Foods, 2 Shirley High Street. Tel 02380 77920

Next polish radio programmes on Unity 101. The music show is on 18 November from 6pm to 8pm.
