Well the sEUthampton exhibition is now over. Many thanks to all who took part, and visited. Over the next few days we have our next Advice Evening and Let’s Talk About. It would be great to see you at either of these. Look below for details. If you’re free between 9.30 and 11.30am on Tuesday 24 March, I need your help! (see ‘Volunteers Needed’ below,) and fancy being a police officer for a day? Have a look at ‘Opportunities for Possible Work.’

1) Our next Advice Evening takes place on Friday 13 March from 6pm to 8pm at George Williams House, YMCA Building , Cranbury Place SO14 0LG (near London Road and Inner Avenue )
We offer benefits, housing and employment advice
We can help with practical problems, information about schools, driving, health etc
We can tell you about English lessons
We can help with tax returns, business plans and CV's
We can help you fill in forms
With the help of Polish* Psychologists Club we can also talk to you confidentially about personal problems, stress, family problems etc........or you can just come along and say hello!

2) 'Let's Talk About' Thursday 19 March at 7.00pm The Itchen Gallery and Coffee shop, 68 St Mary Street, so14 1nw. New evening and new café! Come along for a chat and meet some new people, find out more about British culture and listen to interesting guests. The first meeting here in February was great!

3) On the last Tuesday in each month Target Accounting and Lloyd’s/TSB Bank run an open evening at Target’s office 488 Portswood Road so173sp. It’s a chance to open accounts and to ask any banking, financial or tax questions with Polish interpreters available. The next one takes place on Tuesday 24 31 March from 7pm. 4) Our playgroup at St Boniface Church, Shirley High Street happens each Tuesday morning. If you have children under 5, or know people who have, it is a great place to come. It runs from 10am, and is open to all Eastern/Central European families.


* We have translation into Polish available at all of our meetings, but will always try to offer translation into other languages. Let us know if this is needed

SOTONDANCE – 21st & 22nd March

– Second Edition!
On the 21st and 22nd of March you will have an opportunity to participate in Sotondance Workshops. During these two days you will be taught by professional dancers – classes including salsa, hip-hop and commercial. Classes will be suitable for participants of all levels. Everyone is invited and everyone will find something interesting for them!

All classes will take place at FitnessFirst (RoyalMail Building) 366-368 Shirley Road SO153HY

During April Southampton remembers the sinking of the Titanic with various events. On 17,18 and 19 April there are special ‘Titanic Walks’ leaving from Holyrood Church in High Street (corner of Bernard Street) at 1pm, 2pm and 3pm. These are free, but you need to book a place. To do so, e mail drob007@aol.com

Fin out about jobs in Fire service and Police!
Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service will be holding a ‘Have A Go Day’ on Saturday 21st March 2009. The morning session will be from 09:15 and the afternoon session will start at 13:15. They will be held at our Service Headquarters on Leigh Road , Eastleigh . So, if you have any friends or family who would like to find out more about becoming a firefighter and attend the Have A Go Day,’ then please contact Ami Sidhu on 07918 887878 or email amerpal.sidhu@hantsfire.gov.uk. Spaces are limited and demand is expected to be high, therefore only individuals who have confirmed their attendance prior to the event will be able to take part on the day.


Portswood Police Station have made us a great offer! If you’ve wondered about a career with the police either as a PCSO or as a regular police officer, you can have a taste of what the work is like, and go out one evening ‘on the beat’ with an officer as a volunteer. Volunteers Needed

I'd like 2 or 3 volunteers for Tuesday morning 24 March for a meeting with some mental health professionals to share about their experiences in the UK (good and bad) Contact me for more details

Southampton Rape Crisis offers face to face counselling, a telephone helpline, support for people going through court cases and regular groups to anyone aged 12 or above who has experienced child sexual abuse or adult sexual assault.

We run an annual training programme for anyone who is interested in volunteering for us and this year’s training will start in May. We would like anyone interested in working for either as a counsellor or translator, to contact us either by e mail or on the office phone number 023 80636312 and ask for Viv ,
