The historical walk round Southampton with some of our Hungarian friends, and the BBC tour attended by Polish, Czech and French people all went well. May look like being a busy month. We are keen to serve all new European communities in and around Southampton, so let us know if there ia anything we can do to help you. Below you can read about our next events. 1) Wednesday 7 May 'Let's talk About..' Informal cafĂŠ chat! 7.00pm at 'Sweet Tooth Cukierenka' 22 Bedford Place SO15 2BD. A chance to chat, practise your English, drink good coffee, eat cakes and meet new people. This is for people from all E.U. countries. Come along to find out more.
2) Need some advice or fancy a chat? Our next Advice Evening takes place on Friday 16 May from 6pm to 8pm We help people fill in forms and give information on benefits, work and housing issues plus anything else that is on your mind, and now we co-operate with the Polish* Psychologists' Club to be able to help people going through stressful times. We can offer advice on problems with children, teenagers, personal problems, coping with life on emigration, coping with stress at work, at home, at university / school, decision making etc. So come along to George Williams House, YMCA Building ,Cranbury Place SO14 0LG (near London Road and Inner Avenue )
3) Dr Andrzej Kuzmicki is running a workshop on 22 May about stress and how to cope with it. For full details in Polish open the attachment with this e mail
4) Target Accounting 488 Portswood Rd SO17 3SP in hosting an evening each month with Lloyds/TSB Bank. The next one is Tuesday 27 May from 7-9pm. It's a chance to open accounts and receive banking advice with Polish interpreters. They also can give tax / financial advise, and people who already have accounts with Lloyds can come and talk to polish staff about any queries they may have. 5) 'Fruce French Friends.' We're starting a new monthly meeting 7pm on Wednesday 28 May. It will be a chance to talk French!!! We are inviting local French people as well as Eastern European and UK people who speak some French. Come along to find out more to Fruce, 40 London Road so15 2ag. It will be friendly French at Fruce!

6) The Parent and Children's group at St Boniface Church, Shirley High Street happens each Tuesday morning. If you have children under 5, or know people who have, it is a great place to come. It runs from 10am, and is open to all Eastern European families.
* We have translation into Polish available at all of our meetings, but will always try to offer translation into other languages. Let us know if this is needed
Coming up in June! We are planning more historical walks round Southampton, a day seminar with the Polish Psychologists Club** and a Barbecue with our friends from Freemantle Baptist Church!

Sunday 18 May 'Foyes Corner festival' from 10am to 4pm in the field behind St Mark's School in Shirley Road. Fun for all the family including a display of art produced by local people from Eastern and Central Europe. All welcome. (If you would like to display your paintings, photographs etc, contact stuartjebbitt@hotmail.com; ) At the festival there will be dancing, bands, swimming, bouncy castles and giant inflatables, local food, drinks, information tents, local radio DJs, Scout Movement, Guide Movement, Southampton Mayor, tattoos, messy play, duck pond, environmental and recycling, hog-roast, African drumming, face painting, circus skills, raffle, and many, many more things to do on the day. Admission is free.

If you live or work in the New Forest should be interested in the New Community Development Worker who has been appointed to work with ethnic minorities in the New Forest. Sayem Kabir is looking to make contacts with all Polish/Eastern European communities to promote community engagement and work with those who feel isolated living in the New Forest. He is hoping to help improve the services at the New Forest for all ethnic minorities, through the voices and opinions of the people themselves. Even if you are on your own, feeling lonely, stressed and have very little contact with people in the New Forest, and would like to speak to someone then contact Sayem. 'Clothes Make the (Prehistoric) Man; �an exhibition from the Prague Museum, Czech Republic until 11 July at God�s House Tower Museum of Archaeology, Winkle Street .Reproductions of prehistoric textiles and clothing will be on display for visitors to handle, accompanied by text in Czech and English. The story begins in what is now the Czech Republic in 40,000BC and continues to about 1000AD. Admission free.
